Alishia Musungo (18) crowned Face of the Globe Zimbabwe UK 2013
Alishia Musungo (18) was crowned Face of the Globe Zimbabwe UK 2013 last weekend at the Croydon Conference Centre in the United Kingdom. The newly crowned queen beat nine finalists and is set to represent the UK in Paris at the global finals in October. The teenager walked away with beauty hampers courtesy of Rehoboth Creations.
Musungo said winning the title has given her a breakthrough to raise awareness on problems within Africa.
“I feel happy to be the new Face of Globe Zimbabwe UK 2013. I want to highlight the goodness and talent of Africa and uplift Zimbabwe’s profile,” she said.
Musungo said the pageant also gave her a platform to launch her modelling career.
“The title is an honour and has given me responsibility to represent Zimbabwe globally and promote the Face of the Globe’s brand,” she said.
The event was hosted by Glorianne Francis and the judges’ panel included pageant coach Shirley James, Zimbabwean designer Leah of Africadesign, First Black Miss England Rachel Christie and the founder of Face of the Globe Lucie Hide.
According to the organisers, the models designed their African prints and brought their own garments.
The event was sponsored by Aloe Vera Company, Toch Ltd, La Reine, Power of Business Networking, Sandz Make-up, Lavida Royale, Blackarmoor Clothing, KM models and African Arts Council.
DJ King Alfred, Pearl Doherty, Shanky and Boyz Retonaz provided entertainment.
